Enviro News Asia, Jakarta – The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) is organizing The 2nd Annual Indonesia Green Industry Summit (AIGIS) 2025 to foster the development of a green industry ecosystem that supports economic growth while accelerating decarbonization.
Head of the Agency for Standardization and Industrial Services Policy (BSKJI) at Kemenperin, Andi Rizaldi, stated in Jakarta on Monday that the event, scheduled for August 2025, will serve as a platform for various stakeholders to engage in dialogue, collaborate, and drive the transformation of the industrial sector. “This initiative aims to enhance Indonesia’s industrial competitiveness on a global scale, while ensuring environmental sustainability and achieving decarbonization targets,” said Andi Rizaldi at the Pre-Event Socialization of The 2nd Annual Indonesia Green Industry Summit (AIGIS) 2025 in Jakarta, Monday (March 17, 2025).
The transformation towards a green industry is a national priority, aligning with Indonesia’s Enhanced Nationally Determined Contribution (ENDC) targets. In 2022, Indonesia increased its greenhouse gas emission reduction target to 32% through independent efforts and 43% with international support. “The shift towards a green industry is no longer an option but a necessity for the future of our nation and our planet,” Andi emphasized.
He highlighted that synergy between the government, industry, academia, and society is essential in building a sustainable green industry ecosystem. As a concrete step, Kemenperin has issued Minister of Industry Circular Letter No. 2 of 2025, requiring industries to submit emission data through the National Industrial Information System (SIINas). This policy aims to monitor industrial emissions, maintain air quality, and assist industries in their decarbonization efforts.
The Head of Kemenperin’s Green Industry Center, Apit Pria Nugraha, noted that the previous AIGIS 2024 successfully garnered attention from various stakeholders, including government officials, academics, industry players, and the media. “To build on this success, AIGIS 2025 marks a major step in the transition towards a lower-emission industry, in line with the industrial sector’s Net Zero Emissions target by 2050,” he said.
AIGIS 2025 is a collaborative effort between Kemenperin—through BSKJI—along with the World Resources Institute (WRI) Indonesia, the Institute for Essential Services Reform (IESR), and GMS Consolidate as the event organizer. The summit’s main event will take place from August 20-22, 2025, at the Jakarta International Convention Center (JICC).
Ahead of the main event, a series of pre-events will be held from March to August 2025, including the Green Industry Awards, Green Journalism Competition, and GreenRun. Notably, the entire AIGIS 2025 event is being organized without using state budget (APBN) funds, demonstrating a strong spirit of collaboration between the public and private sectors.
Managing Director of WRI Indonesia, Arief Wijaya, emphasized that the transformation of the green industry must be a shared vision pursued collectively. “We play a role in ensuring that AIGIS 2025 delivers concrete solutions for building a green industry ecosystem,” he stated.
Meanwhile, IESR’s Industrial Decarbonization Program Manager, Juniko Nur Pratama, highlighted that decarbonization is a long-term journey requiring vision and strong commitment. “Close collaboration between the government, industry, and other stakeholders is key to this transition,” he concluded.
