Enviro News Asia, Pasuruan – Coca-Cola Europacific Partners Indonesia (CCEP Indonesia) has inaugurated a Rooftop Solar Power Plant (PLTS) at the Mega Distribution Center and PSD Pandaan Factory in Pasuruan Regency, East Java, on Tuesday (January 21, 2025).
“This rooftop solar power plant, with a capacity of 2.4 megawatt peak (MWp), can reduce fossil energy usage by up to 7%,” said Lucia Karina, Director of Public Affairs, Communications, and Sustainability at CCEP Indonesia, during the inauguration event at the Mega Distribution Center and PSD Pandaan Factory in Pasuruan Regency, East Java.
The inauguration marks the industrial sector’s contribution to accelerating the implementation of clean energy in Indonesia and supports the government’s target to achieve Net Zero Emissions by 2060 and a 23% renewable energy mix by 2025. The event was attended by the Acting Regent of Pasuruan, Nurkholis; Chairman of the Pasuruan Regency Regional People’s Representative Council, Samsul Hidayat; and the management team of CCEP Indonesia.
Lucia explained that the rooftop solar power plant, built on an area of 27,967 square meters, is projected to reduce carbon emissions by approximately 2 million kilograms of CO2 annually. This investment is part of CCEP’s global commitment to the RE100 initiative and its target of using 100% renewable energy by 2030.
“Through our sustainability framework, This is Forward, CCEP is committed to achieving net zero emissions by 2040, with a 30% emission reduction target by 2030 compared to 2019 levels. The installation of the rooftop solar power plant in Pasuruan is a vital part of our commitment to supporting the national energy transition agenda,” Lucia said.
Coca-Cola Europacific Partners Indonesia (CCEP Indonesia) has demonstrated its commitment to renewable energy development through various sustainability initiatives. In 2020, the company operated the largest rooftop solar power plant in Southeast Asia, with a capacity of 7.134 MWp, capable of reducing carbon emissions by approximately 7 million kilograms of CO2 annually.
This USD 5.8 million investment represents a significant milestone in CCEP Indonesia’s efforts to decarbonize its operations. In addition to the rooftop solar power plant, CCEP Indonesia has implemented various renewable energy innovations, including deploying approximately 200,000 energy-efficient refrigerators that can save up to 178 million kWh of energy annually. The company has also transitioned from diesel to natural gas and LNG for heaters, power generators, and forklifts since 2008.
East Java plays a strategic role in the national energy transition, with solar energy potential reaching 176,390 MW and contributing 14% to the national gross domestic product. “Through the implementation of rooftop solar power plants and other clean energy programs, we aim to increase the renewable energy mix to 12.5% by 2025,” said Nurkholis, Acting Regent of Pasuruan.
The development of low-carbon industrial zones in East Java is an integral part of the government’s strategy to promote green investment and enhance industrial competitiveness.
