Boosting Wood Product Sales, Ministry of Forestry Strengthens Domestic Marketing

The Ministry of Forestry is set to strengthen domestic marketing efforts in line with global promotion strategies to boost sales of wood products certified under the Sustainable and Legal Verification System (SVLK) Plus.

Director-General of Sustainable Forest Management at the Ministry of Forestry, Dida Migfar Rida, emphasized that wood products have proven resilient against global challenges such as the Covid-19 pandemic. “Forest products have shown resilience and continue to grow,” he said during the Workshop on Improving Forest Product Business Performance Through Strengthening Domestic and Export Markets, held in Jakarta on Tuesday, December 17, 2024.

In 2023, wood product exports reached $12.7 billion. As of November 2024, exports have already reached $11.6 billion, with projections to match last year’s figures.

Dida stressed the importance of securing the domestic market for wood products in addition to targeting exports. He highlighted the government’s ongoing efforts to promote the use of SVLK-certified wood products within Indonesia.

The Director of Forest Product Processing and Marketing at the Ministry, Ristianto Pribadi, revealed that a new platform, SiHutanku.id, has been launched to strengthen the domestic market. This integrated information system compiles data on sustainable forest management and includes a marketplace for SVLK-certified wood products.

“The public can access SiHutanku to obtain SVLK-certified wood products,” said Ristianto, commonly known as Tito.

Additionally, a forestry sector E-Catalog has been introduced to facilitate access to the domestic market for businesses, including forestry industries and SMEs, for government procurement needs.

Tito pointed out that domestic markets hold significant potential, as evidenced by approximately 16,000 import documents for wood products processed by the Ministry
