Climate Week 2025 in Addis Ababa Brings Global Partners Together to Accelerate Climate Action

Enviro News Asia, Addis Ababa — The second Climate Week of 2025 will behosted in Addis Ababa from 1–6 September, bringing together governments, development banks, businesses, civil society, and Indigenous Peoples to accelerate the implementation of climate pledges.

The event, organized by UN Climate Change and hosted by the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, will focus on turning commitments into practical solutions that deliver stronger economic growth, affordable energy, better health, and improved living standards.

Organizers structured the week around key implementation challenges identified by countries and regional actors. Sessions will highlight proven solutions, from community recycling in Kenya and green bonds in Morocco to digital platforms that track climate ambition, allowing participants to learn, replicate, and scale up successful models.

Deputy Executive Secretary of UN Climate Change, Noura Hamladji, emphasized the role of the event in connecting the global climate process to everyday realities. She stated that Climate Weeks aim to showcase real-world solutions while laying foundations for progress in finance, adaptation, mitigation, and a Just Transition in the lead-up to COP30 in Belém.

The core of the program, the Implementation Forum, will provide a platform for sharing solutions across climate finance, technology, agriculture, forestry, and other key areas. Through Implementation Labs, dialogues, and roundtables, participants will explore how to expand collaboration and investment in climate action.

Thematic discussions will address adaptation finance, public–private finance dialogue, agriculture and forestry climate action, multilevel governance, and community-driven initiatives. Organizers also aligned the agenda with the six priority areas of the incoming COP30 Presidency.

While global in scope, Climate Week 2025 is designed to align with Africa’s Agenda 2063 vision for inclusive growth and resilience. Its outcomes, particularly from the Implementation Forum, will feed into the Africa Climate Summit 2, scheduled in Addis Ababa from 8–10 September. Leaders are expected to advance Africa’s collective position on finance, adaptation, and resilience, further shaping the continent’s contribution to COP30. (*)
