Eddy Soeparno Meets Masdar Energy, Pledges Support for Expanded Renewable Investment in Indonesia

Enviro News Asia, Abu Dhabi — Indonesian Vice Speaker of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR RI), Eddy Soeparno, has met with executives of Masdar Clean Energy to discuss the expansion of renewable energy investment in Indonesia.

Eddy attended the meeting at Masdar’s headquarters in Masdar City, Abu Dhabi, following an official invitation from the UAE-based renewable energy company. He was received by Masdar Chief Operating Officer Abdulaziz Alobaidli and Head of Development and Investment Fatimah Al Suwaidi. The meeting was also attended by Indonesia’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Judha Nugraha.

During the discussion, Masdar reaffirmed its commitment to expanding renewable energy projects in Indonesia, building on the successful operation of the Cirata floating solar power plant. Abdulaziz Alobaidli noted that Masdar is prepared to broaden its investment portfolio in line with Indonesia’s target to increase renewable energy capacity to 10 gigawatts.

Masdar also expressed hope that Indonesia’s regulatory framework would continue to evolve in a more open and investment-friendly direction to accelerate renewable energy development and the national energy transition.

Eddy Soeparno welcomed Masdar’s strong interest and emphasized Indonesia’s commitment to accelerating renewable energy development under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto. He underlined that the transition toward clean energy is a strategic step to strengthen national energy sovereignty while ensuring environmental sustainability.

Representing the National Mandate Party (PAN), Eddy stated that the MPR RI is ready to facilitate policy and legislative support to ensure renewable energy investments can be implemented effectively and efficiently. He highlighted several priority bills, including the Renewable Energy Bill, the Electricity Bill, and the Climate Change Management Bill, which are expected to provide a stronger legal foundation for Indonesia’s clean energy transition.

Eddy added that the Climate Change Management Bill is particularly urgent, given the increasing impacts of climate change, and is expected to play a key role in accelerating Indonesia’s shift toward sustainable and low-carbon energy. (*)
