Exploring Research Collaboration, UPN Veteran Jakarta Visits PT Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia

Enviro News Asia, Jakarta — As part of efforts to explore partnerships with industry, particularly in research, the Industrial Engineering Study Program at Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ) conducted an industrial visit to PT Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN) on Tuesday, April 15, 2025. The visit took place at Toyota’s manufacturing plant in Karawang, West Java, and was attended by the Study Program Coordinator, Study Program Secretary, and four Heads of Laboratories from the Industrial Engineering department.

PT TMMIN is widely recognized as a pioneer in Indonesia’s automotive manufacturing industry, known for its high standards in Lean Manufacturing, Total Quality Management (TQM), and sustainable production practices. The visit aimed to explore various forms of strategic collaboration between the two parties, ranging from education and research to facility enhancement and curriculum development aligned with industry needs.

One of the key points discussed during the meeting was the potential donation of practical equipment from PT TMMIN to support the development of UPNVJ’s Industrial Engineering laboratories. In addition, the two parties discussed opportunities to establish internship pathways and job placement programs for UPNVJ students within the TMMIN environment.

“Through this visit, we hope to open concrete avenues for collaboration, including the possibility of equipment grants, student internships, and curriculum alignment with industry,” said Ir. Nur Fajriah, Coordinator of the Industrial Engineering Study Program, in an official statement on Thursday (April 17, 2025). She added that this partnership is part of the study program’s efforts to respond to the increasingly competitive demands of the job market.
