From Content to Action: Indonesia Empowers Youth to Protect Forests Through Digital Innovation

Enviro News Asia, Jakarta — The Government of Indonesia is strengthening youth engagement in forest conservation and climate action through digital innovation initiatives. Under the Youth Talk Take Action (YTTA) programme themed “From Scroll to Impact,” young people are encouraged to move beyond passive content consumption and become active agents of change in the digital space.

Acting Head of the Human Resources Extension and Development Agency at the Ministry of Forestry, Indra Exploitasia, emphasized the importance of empowering youth to lead positive digital trends. He stated that young generations should not only act as followers but also as trendsetters who utilize technology to create impactful and meaningful content.

The online event attracted more than 650 participants, including students, university attendees, youth communities, and members of the public from across Indonesia. Participants received practical training on how to develop effective prompts to optimize the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in content creation and professional tasks.

The programme highlighted that AI is not merely an instant tool but a technology that requires strategic understanding to maximize its potential. This includes supporting environmental communication, strengthening climate campaigns, and fostering innovative solutions for forestry-related challenges.

Indra further explained that YTTA serves as a collaborative platform for learning and inspiration, enabling young people to contribute tangible solutions to forest conservation and climate action. The initiative also underscores the importance of cross-sector collaboration in building an ecosystem where youth play an active role in sustainability efforts.

The programme was implemented by the Ministry of Forestry’s Human Resources Development Agency through the Forest Conservation Youth Development Center (Pusgenri), in collaboration with Binar Academy and Microsoft. This partnership aims to enhance digital literacy and innovation capacity among Indonesia’s youth in the era of digital transformation.

The Government reaffirmed its commitment to expanding learning and collaboration platforms that empower young people to become part of global solutions in addressing climate change and forest degradation. (*)
