Enviro News Asia, Jakarta – Minister of Forestry Raja Juli Antoni, along with leaders from other ministries and institutions, attended a meeting on accelerating the implementation of agrarian reform at Nusantara II Building, MPR DPR RI Complex (24/09/2025).
Leaders of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (DPR RI) and members of Commission IV held a coordination meeting with the government to discuss strategies for expediting agrarian reform.
In addition to the Minister of Forestry, other attendees included the Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (BPN), Minister of State Secretary, Minister of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions, Minister of Tourism, Acting Minister of State-Owned Enterprises, and the Presidential Chief of Staff. Representatives from the Agrarian Reform Consortium (KPA) and several grassroots organizations also joined, bringing messages and proposals for the government.
The meeting was chaired by DPR RI Deputy Speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad. It served as an opportunity for government representatives to hear inputs from KPA and civil society organizations regarding the acceleration of agrarian reform and conflict resolution.
Some of the key inputs presented by KPA and grassroots groups included addressing unequal land distribution, resolving agrarian conflicts, and developing at least 1.7 million hectares within the KPA’s Agrarian Reform Priority Locations (LPRA).
Further recommendations included establishing an Agrarian Reform Implementation Agency, as well as forming a Special Committee (Pansus) within DPR RI to accelerate agrarian reform and resolve related conflicts.
During the meeting, Minister of Forestry Raja Juli Antoni reflected on his past as an activist supporting the resolution of agrarian conflicts.
“Essentially, I agree that we need an intersectoral institutional body to break the deadlock we have long faced in the agrarian reform process,” said Minister Raja Juli Antoni.
According to him, such an institution is expected to bridge different sectors, ministries, and policymakers in following up on agrarian conflict resolutions.
Key recommendations concluded from the meeting included the establishment of an Agrarian Reform Implementation Agency, DPR RI’s commitment to promoting the One Map Policy, and the formation of a Special Committee (Pansus) dedicated to agrarian conflict resolution. (*)
