Indonesia Advances Second Revision of National Forestry Plan 2011–2030

Enviro News Asia, Jakarta — The Ministry of Forestry convened a coordination meeting on Thursday (27 November) to present the draft of the Second Revision of the National Forestry Plan (RKTN) 2011–2030. Deputy Minister of Forestry Rohmat Marzuki opened the session, which brought together senior officials and members of the RKTN Revision Team.

The ministry developed the revised plan to align national forestry development with changes in spatial planning policies, updated forest area data, advances in geospatial technology, and Indonesia’s commitments to global environmental and climate agendas.

Deputy Minister Marzuki emphasized that the revision serves as a strategic action to guide future forestry policy. He stated that the updated RKTN aims to ensure relevance and responsiveness to evolving social, economic, and environmental challenges.

The latest draft introduces key updates, including the application of land sparing–land sharing approaches, strengthened direction for six spatial utilization mandates, and the integration of food security, carbon reserves, social forestry, agrarian reform (TORA), and support for the FOLU Net Sink 2030 agenda.

Marzuki also underscored the need for stronger alignment across sectors and administrative levels. He reiterated that the second revision of the RKTN must function as a solid reference for both national and regional forestry planning to secure spatial certainty and promote adaptive, collaborative, and equitable development.
