Enviro News Asia, Belém — Indonesia officially closed its COP30 Pavilion in Belém, Brazil, reaffirming its commitment to advancing high-integrity carbon governance as a foundation for achieving Net Zero. The closing remarks were delivered by Ary Sudijanto, Deputy for PPI and Carbon Economic Value Governance, on behalf of the Minister of Environment and Forestry/Head of BPLH.
In his statement, Ary Sudijanto expressed appreciation to the Government of Brazil, the UNFCCC Secretariat, and all partners, delegates, and visitors who contributed to the success of the Indonesia Pavilion. He noted that the pavilion served as a strategic diplomatic platform to showcase Indonesia’s concrete contributions to global emission reduction through credible and transparent carbon governance.
Over two weeks of activities, the Indonesia Pavilion recorded strong engagement: more than 5,000 visitors, over 50 discussion sessions featuring more than 60 national and international speakers, collaboration with more than 100 partners and sponsors, and more than 20 bilateral meetings that advanced cooperation on climate action, forestry, and sustainable development.
By the closing day, the Pavilion documented 44 carbon-credit projects and 28 project proponents, along with purchase and investment interest reaching 2,754,680 tons of CO₂e. These came from 12 projects—eight in the energy sector, three in FOLU, and one in waste management. The Carbon Connection initiative further demonstrated that Indonesia has moved beyond negotiation into implementation, opening access to climate finance for mitigation-adaptation efforts while delivering benefits to local communities.
Throughout COP30, the Ministry of Forestry hosted eight flagship sessions covering:
- Social Forestry
- Indigenous Forest Commitments
- Forest Fire Management
- World Mangrove Center
- Multi-Business Forestry (MUK)
- Voluntary Carbon Market (VCM)
- Plantation Forest Development
- International Tropical Peatlands Centre (ITPC)
Each session reinforced Indonesia’s pledge to uphold forest governance that is high-integrity, inclusive, and sustainable.
Indonesia invited its global partners to reconvene at the Indonesia Pavilion during COP31 in Anatolia, Türkiye, in 2026 to continue advancing collaboration, concrete action, and innovation toward achieving Net Zero. (*)
