Enviro News Asia, Jakarta – The Indonesian Ministry of Trade, through the Trade Attaché in London, organized a virtual business matching event with buyers from the UK. The event connected EOM Green Trading Ltd. with PT Perusahaan Perdagangan Indonesia (PPI).
EOM Green Trading Ltd. is a trading company based in London, UK, that supplies various companies in the energy and electricity sectors.
According to Ayu Siti Maryam, the Trade Attaché in London, the business matching initiative aimed to expand networks and facilitate the search for high-quality charcoal suppliers from Indonesia for the UK market. As a result of this meeting, PT PPI will assist EOM Green Trading Ltd. in connecting with Indonesian charcoal suppliers.
“This business matching event is intended to expand networks and make it easier to find more high-quality charcoal suppliers in Indonesia. It also aims to facilitate mutually beneficial business agreements between Indonesian and UK companies,” Ayu explained.
Ayu further noted that EOM Green Trading Ltd. is looking for a specific type of charcoal in large volumes, which requires collaboration with major companies such as PT PPI.
The business matching event was attended by Michael Vares, Consultant for EOM Green Trading Ltd.; Joyce Josephine, Head of International Trade and Marketing at PT PPI; as well as representatives from the Directorate General of National Export Development at the Ministry of Trade, who facilitated the meeting.
According to Joyce, PT PPI is capable of meeting both the quantity and quality requirements. “We will make efforts and offer EOM Green Trading Ltd. connections with other potential suppliers in Indonesia,” she stated.
Michael Vares emphasized the importance of working with one or two reliable suppliers to ensure optimal quality control. The attendees agreed to continue discussions and exchange updates on the latest developments from both sides.
“EOM Green Trading Ltd. requires high-quality hardwood charcoal. We are interested in sourcing this product from Indonesia, focusing on major companies such as PT PPI,” Michael said.
In 2024, Indonesia successfully exported charcoal products (HS 4402) to the global market, with a total export value of USD 351 million. Between 2020 and 2024, Indonesian charcoal exports showed a significant upward trend, growing by 8.3 percent, reflecting the increasing competitiveness of Indonesian products in international markets.
The total trade between Indonesia and the UK reached USD 2.76 billion in 2024, marking a 2.55 percent increase compared to the previous year. Meanwhile, Indonesia’s exports to the UK amounted to USD 1.79 billion, while imports from the UK reached USD 973.30 million. Consequently, Indonesia recorded a trade surplus of USD 812.20 million with the UK.
