Indonesian Minister of Forestry and National Police Chief of Indonesia Attend 2025 Forest and Land Fire Jamboree

Enviro News Asia, Jakarta — The Minister of Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia, Raja Juli Antoni, along with the Chief of the Indonesian National Police (Kapolri), General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, attended the opening of the 2025 Forest and Land Fire (Karhutla) Jamboree. The event takes place over three days at the Sultan Syarif Hasyim Grand Forest Park in Siak Regency, from Friday to Sunday (April 25–27, 2025).

Around 2,000 participants took part in the event, including youth organizations, Scouts, student councils (OSIS), community youth groups (Karang Taruna), and various other organizations. The Jamboree was held as a precautionary measure in anticipation of the fire threat during the dry season, which is expected to begin in Riau in May 2025.

“On behalf of the Ministry of Forestry, I extend my highest appreciation to the Governor of Riau, the Riau Regional Police Chief, and all members of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda),” said Raja Juli Antoni after attending the series of activities at the 2025 Karhutla Jamboree.

On the same occasion, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo emphasized that all parties must increase their vigilance and preparedness for the 2025 dry season. “In addition, we must be able to implement effective strategies to prevent and combat forest and land fires,” said the National Police Chief.

According to the Minister of Forestry, the Jamboree serves as a reminder that forest and land fires remain a serious threat. He called on all parties to unite in facing the potential for wildfires, especially as the peak of the dry season approaches.

“Therefore, we must join hands, work together in solidarity, to prevent forest and land fires in Riau Province,” he said.
