Minister of Environment Appreciates Waste Management at Taman Safari Indonesia Bogor

Enviro News Asia, Bogor – Minister of Environment Hanif Faisol Nurofiq has praised the Integrated Waste Management (IWM) system implemented at Taman Safari Indonesia (TSI) Bogor. According to the Minister, the waste management system at TSI Bogor serves as a model for waste management across Indonesia.

Minister Hanif Faisol Nurofiq conveyed this appreciation during his visit to TSI Bogor on Saturday (Feb 15). “This is a form of business-based self-sufficiency. I believe this is an important example as we continue to take curative actions in waste management throughout Indonesia,” he stated.

Hanif emphasized that the waste management system at Taman Safari Indonesia Bogor, utilizing the IWM system, aligns with the mandate of Law Number 18 of 2008. The wildlife-based tourism park has successfully collected, sorted, and transformed waste into valuable resources.

“The three main objectives of waste management are being practically implemented at Taman Safari Indonesia, including preventing environmental pollution, improving public health, and turning waste into a resource,” he explained.

The Minister of Environment and Head of the Environmental Management Agency (BPLH) also stressed that waste management is a shared responsibility, involving not only the government but also private sector stakeholders. Therefore, he announced plans to invite and encourage hotel and restaurant businesses to adopt this waste management system.
