Minister of Forestry Releases List of 436 Palm Oil Plantation Companies in Forest Areas

Enviro News Asia, Jakarta – The Minister of Forestry has released a list of 436 palm oil plantation companies that have been established in forest areas without proper permits, with their permit applications either still in process or rejected by the Ministry of Forestry. The list is outlined in the Minister of Forestry Decree No. 36 of 2025, issued on February 6, 2025.

The decree provides detailed information on the 436 companies, including their parent company groups, the size of the land applied for, and the status of their permit applications—whether still under review or rejected by the Ministry of Forestry. The applications currently under process cover a total area of 790,474 hectares, while those that have been rejected account for 317,253 hectares.

These palm oil plantations are spread across various provinces, with the highest concentration in Central Kalimantan and Riau. However, similar plantations are also found in forest areas in South Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, and West Kalimantan, as well as in South Sumatra, North Sumatra, Bangka Belitung Islands, Riau Islands, and Jambi provinces.
