Enviro News Asia, Jakarta – The Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia held the National Gathering of Wana Lestari Award Recipients 2025 in Jakarta on Thursday (14/8/2025).
The Wana Lestari Award is given annually to individuals, communities, and institutions that demonstrate outstanding contributions to sustainable forest management.
This year’s recipients were recognized for their innovation and dedication in protecting forests and supporting environmental sustainability.
Alongside the award ceremony, the Ministry of Forestry also introduced the ASN Corporate University.
ASN, short for Aparatur Sipil Negara, refers to Indonesia’s civil state apparatus — civil servants who work in public administration at both national and regional levels.
The ASN Corporate University aims to strengthen the capacity, skills, and professionalism of civil servants, particularly in the forestry sector, to better respond to climate and environmental challenges.
In this event, Minister of Forestry Raja Juli Antoni presented awards to 54 forestry exemplars from 14 categories, while simultaneously launching the ASN Corporate University program as a commitment to enhancing the quality of human resources in the forestry sector.
Award recipients came from various categories, ranging from forestry extension officers, forest farmer groups, customary forest managers, conservation cadres, law enforcement officers, to forest management enterprises.
They were recognized for their tangible contributions to forestry development, environmental conservation, and community empowerment.
In his remarks, the Minister of Forestry emphasized that this award is a form of appreciation for the dedication of forestry exemplars.
“Ladies and gentlemen are inspirations on the ground, working tirelessly to protect forests and the environment. May this work be beneficial for all of us and for the sustainability of Indonesia’s forests,” said Raja Juli Antoni.
In addition to the awards, the Ministry of Forestry also introduced the ASN Corporate University.
This program is designed to develop Forestry Human Excellence—forestry human resources that are superior, adaptive, innovative, and competitive in the digital era and global trade.
The program adopts the Learning Value Chain concept, with success measured through Return on Training Investment (ROTI).
The event also featured the announcement of the winners of the 2025 Forester Innovation Competition, showcasing the three best innovations: the Human Resources Apparatus Competency Mapping Information System (SPEKTRA), the BBKSDA South Sulawesi One Data system based on artificial intelligence, and the bonfire method for mangrove planting.
The forestry exemplars are also scheduled to participate in a series of other activities, including attending the joint session of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR), the House of Representatives (DPR), and the Regional Representative Council (DPD), sharing experiences with Directorate General officials, and attending the 80th Indonesian Independence Day Ceremony at the State Palace.
The Wana Lestari 2025 Gathering takes place from 14–18 August 2025 as part of the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of Indonesia’s independence, under the theme “United and Sovereign, Prosperous People, Advanced Indonesia.” Through this event, the Ministry of Forestry reaffirmed its commitment to building sustainable forest management while strengthening the role of human resources in advancing toward the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision.
