Enviro News Asia, Jakarta – The Ministry of Forestry, through the Directorate for the Management of Tenurial Conflict and Customary Forests (PKTHA), is preparing the implementation of Forest Programme V (FP V) in Sanggau Regency, West Kalimantan Province.
The preparation began with a Coordination Planning Meeting of the Provincial Technical Committee (PTC) for Forest Programme V in West Kalimantan.
Julmansyah, Director of PKTHA, stated that the purpose of the meeting is to enhance the effectiveness of FP V implementation and to refresh and review the progress of the program to date. “It also aims to strengthen institutional working relationships among stakeholders,” said Julmansyah, as conveyed in an official release from the Ministry of Forestry.
The meeting, held in Jakarta on July 3, 2025, was attended by representatives from the PKTHA Directorate as the Project Executing Agency (PEA), the Banjarbaru Social Forestry Agency (BPS) as the Project Implementing Unit (PIU) for FP V in West Kalimantan, the Secretariat of the Directorate General of Social Forestry, the National Project Management Unit (NPMU) of FP V, GFA Consultants as the Implementing Consultant (IC) of FP V, as well as the West Kalimantan Provincial Environment and Forestry Office.
During the meeting, Director Julmansyah emphasized the crucial role of the Provincial Environment and Forestry Office (DLHK), particularly the Forest Management Units (KPH), in the implementation of FP V.
He highlighted that program funding and support are time-bound, while KPHs, as local forest managers, are the frontline actors who will remain engaged at the field level—especially in community empowerment through the Social Forestry (PS) program.
Head of the West Kalimantan Environment and Forestry Office, Adi Yani, stressed that FP V should not be treated merely as a project, but must have real, tangible impacts on communities living around forest areas, particularly within the FP V project zones.
Director Julmansyah and the Head of the West Kalimantan DLHK agreed to convene the Provincial Technical Committee (PTC) Coordination Meeting for FP V in West Kalimantan in July 2025.
The meeting is expected to result in a collaborative plan for the future implementation of FP V, as well as the development of an exit strategy ahead of the program’s conclusion in 2026.
This initiative reflects the PKTHA Directorate’s commitment to ensuring all organizational elements work in harmony and efficiently to achieve shared objectives. (*)
