Enviro News Asia, Jakarta – The Rector of Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ), Prof. Dr. Anter Venus, M.A., Comm., attended an invitation from the Indonesian Veterans Legion (LVRI) to commemorate the 2025 National Veterans Day, held on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at Balai Sarbini, Jakarta.
The event served as a moment to honor the services of veterans while reaffirming the spirit of patriotism.
The commemoration, officially opened by LVRI Chairman H.B.L. Mantiri, carried a profound message about the boundless dedication of veterans.
“Veterans serve without limits, fighting throughout their lifetime,” Mantiri said in his remarks. He emphasized that the spirit of the veterans’ struggle must be passed on to younger generations.
Prof. Anter Venus stated that the commemoration was not merely ceremonial but also an opportunity to strengthen the values of patriotism and service.
“The fighting spirit of the veterans is a role model that we must continue to keep alive, both within the campus environment and in society,” Venus said in UPNVJ’s official release.
This message served as a reminder that the spirit of struggle does not end in the past, but continues to live on and be passed down to future generations.
On this meaningful occasion, Prof. Anter Venus, as the leader of a campus that upholds the identity of Bela Negara (State Defense), expressed that he embraced the moment wholeheartedly.
“National Veterans Day is not just a ceremony, but a momentum to reaffirm the spirit of patriotism and service to the nation. The veterans’ fighting spirit is a role model we must continue to keep alive both on campus and in society,” he explained.
The event was also attended by the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Indonesia (Menhan RI), Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, who in his speech expressed deep appreciation for the sacrifices of veterans who had dedicated themselves to the independence and unity of the Republic of Indonesia.
This commemoration was not only a moment to remember and honor the services of veterans but also an occasion to present awards to those who continue to contribute to preserving the nation’s spirit of struggle.
This year, the Deputy Minister of Defense of the Republic of Indonesia, Air Marshal (Ret.) Donny Ermawan T., M.D.S., M.S.P., attended as an invited guest and award recipient.
