Enviro News Asia, Jakarta — PT Pertamina (Persero) has implemented mitigation strategies to maintain national energy supply stability in response to global dynamics and tensions in the Middle East, officials said in Jakarta on March 18, 2026.
Vice President Corporate Communication Muhammad Baron stated that the company has activated contingency plans to ensure the continued availability and distribution of fuel and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for the public.
He explained that Pertamina has diversified its energy supply sources to reduce dependence on specific regions, allowing the company to mitigate risks from disruptions in global supply chains and geopolitical instability.
The company has also strengthened coordination with the government to optimize national energy supply and support strategic energy policies. In addition, Pertamina is working closely with law enforcement agencies and regional governments to monitor distribution channels and prevent irregularities.
According to Baron, field supervision has been intensified to ensure smooth distribution of fuel and LPG, while also supporting law enforcement actions against hoarding and misuse of energy resources.
He noted that current global challenges represent external factors that require collective responses from the government, businesses, and society to maintain energy resilience.
Pertamina reaffirmed its commitment to maximizing all necessary measures to secure national energy availability while encouraging the public to use energy wisely and efficiently.
The company also urged communities to adopt alternative energy usage, such as utilizing electric household appliances for cooking and heating, to better manage overall energy consumption.
In line with directives from President Prabowo Subianto, Pertamina called on the public to contribute to national energy security through responsible energy use.
As part of its long-term strategy, Pertamina continues to support the national target of achieving net zero emissions by 2060 and advancing programs aligned with Sustainable Development Goals, while implementing Environmental, Social, and Governance principles across its operations.
