President Prabowo Appoints Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin and Jampidsus Febrie Adriansyah to Lead Forest Area Management Task Force

Enviro News Asia, Jakarta – President Prabowo Subianto has officially established the Forest Area Management Task Force under Presidential Regulation No. 5 of 2025 on Forest Area Management.

The task force will be led by Indonesia’s Minister of Defense, Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, as Chief Advisor, with Febrie Adriansyah, Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) at the Attorney General’s Office, serving as Chief Executor.

“To enforce forest area management, a Forest Area Management Task Force, hereafter referred to as the Task Force, has been established under the guidance of the Chief Advisor,” the regulation states.

The task force is mandated to manage forest areas through the imposition of administrative fines, reclamation of forest areas, and restoration of assets within forest zones.

The Chief Advisor’s role includes providing strategic guidance for task force activities, monitoring implementation, and evaluating forest area management efforts.

Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin will serve as the Chief Advisor of the Forest Area Management Task Force, supported by Deputy Advisors including the Attorney General, Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), and Chief of Police. Task force members will include the Minister of Forestry, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning (ATR/BPN), Minister of Finance, Minister of Environment and Forestry, and the Head of the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP).

Febrie Adriansyah, Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes, will serve as the Chief Executor of the task force. Deputy Executors include the Chief of General Staff of the TNI, the Chief of Criminal Investigation of the Police (Bareskrim), and the Deputy for Investigations at BPKP.

Other members include senior officials such as the Director-General of Defense Strategy at the Ministry of Defense, the Director-General of Forestry Planning, the Director-General of Plantations, the Director-General of Sustainable Forest Management, the Director-General of Natural Resource Conservation and Ecosystems, and other key positions from relevant ministries and agencies.

The Forest Area Management Task Force is expected to carry out its duties effectively and report its activities to the President periodically.
