Strengthening Plantation Forest Governance, PT Lontar Papyrus Wins Prima Wana Karya Award 2025

Enviro News Asia, Jakarta – APP Group’s business unit, PT Lontar Papyrus Pulp & Paper Industry – Jambi (LPPPI), has been named the recipient of the 2025 Wana Lestari Exemplary Award in the Prima Wana Karya (PWK) category – Plantation Wood Raw Material.

The award was presented at the 2025 National Wana Lestari Exemplary Gathering in Jakarta. It was received by APP Group Vice Director, Irsyal Yasman, and handed over directly by the Minister of Forestry, Raja Juli Antoni, accompanied by Deputy Minister of Forestry, Sulaiman Umar, at the Dr. Soejarwo Auditorium, Manggala Wanabakti Building.

The PWK Award is given to Forest Product Processing Business Actors (PBPHH) who demonstrate outstanding performance in legality, raw material traceability, and reporting compliance, while also contributing to the strengthening of the national forestry industry.

LPPPI’s recognition in the Plantation Wood category reflects the company’s consistency in applying governance over fiber supply from industrial plantation forests that are regulation-compliant and sustainable.

“This award is given to encourage active participation from individuals, groups, civil servants, or businesses in forestry development,” said Minister of Forestry Raja Juli Antoni in his remarks.

As part of APP Group, LPPPI integrates principles of traceability and legality across its entire supply chain—including the implementation of SVLK and Chain of Custody (IFCC/PEFC)—as well as efficient operational practices in its mill.

This achievement aligns with APP Group’s Sustainability Roadmap Vision 2030 (SRV2030) framework, which emphasizes resource efficiency, emission reduction, and strengthening partnerships with stakeholders at both regional and national levels.

“We welcome this award as a reminder to consistently uphold the standards of legality and traceability of raw materials, while also supporting the government’s agenda in building a competitive and sustainable national forestry industry. With strong policy direction and solid synergy between government, industry players, and the community, we believe Indonesia’s plantation wood supply chain can continue to grow more resilient and responsible,” said APP Group Director, Suhendra Wiriadinata, in a separate statement.

The 2025 Wana Lestari Exemplary Gathering is part of the series of events commemorating the 80th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia, organized by the Ministry of Forestry.

The agenda not only serves as an award ceremony, but also as a platform for sharing experiences, exemplary lessons, and strengthening multi-stakeholder synergy in sustainable forest resource management.

The 2025 PWK Award ceremony is part of the Wana Lestari Gathering (14–18 August 2025), which features exemplary learning and multi-stakeholder collaboration.

For LPPPI, this award reaffirms its commitment to upholding PBPHH compliance, strengthening partnerships in its operational areas, and ensuring that raw materials from industrial plantation forests are responsibly utilized to support the sustainability of the national fiber supply. (*)
