Turkey’s DSİ to Publish Daily Dam Reservoir Levels for Greater Water Transparency

Enviro News Asia, Ankara — Turkish Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı has announced the launch of a real-time water resource monitoring system, with the General Directorate of State Hydraulic Works (DSİ) set to publish daily active reservoir fill rates for dams across Turkey and in its four major cities.

Announcing the initiative, Minister Yumaklı said the transparent and effective management of water resources is the greatest legacy the country can leave for future generations.

“In line with this, we are today launching a system through which our citizens, producers, and all stakeholders can monitor the current status of our water resources in real time. The General Directorate of State Hydraulic Works will, as of today, share the active fill rates of dams across Turkey and in our four major cities on a daily basis. In line with our principle of transparency and our data-driven management approach, we are determined to protect every drop of our water against the effects of climate change and carry it safely into the future,” Yumaklı said.
