Enviro News Asia, Jakarta – A delegation from Universitas Pembangunan Nasional Veteran Jakarta (UPNVJ) was welcomed by the Service Universitaire des Relations Internationales et des Étudiants Étrangers (SURIEE) at the University of Poitiers, France, upon their arrival at the prestigious institution on Monday (April 14, 2025). The official visit was aimed at discussing strategies for the development and expansion of international cooperation under the Erasmus Plus International funding framework.
According to the official statement, taking place from April 14–18, 2025, the UPNVJ delegation was represented by Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Dr. Henry Binsar Hamonangan Sitorus, S.T., M.T., and Rector’s Staff for Internationalization, Dr. Dianwicaksih Arieftiara, Ak., CA. The visit was fully funded by the Erasmus Plus International program.
The first day’s agenda on Monday, April 14, 2025, began with a warm welcome from Stéphane Mottet, Vice President in charge of international relations. Also present were members of SURIEE, including Cariline Belan Menagier (Director of the International Office), Francis Grillon (Deputy Director), and Marlene Belly (International Relations Contact for Indonesia).
The welcoming ceremony took place in an informal setting over tea, coffee, and traditional French pastries, fostering a sense of closeness between the two institutions.
The event continued with a discussion session and an introduction of UPNVJ to the University of Poitiers. During the session, Dr. Henry briefly presented UPNVJ’s profile, vision and mission, and two flagship programs for 2025 that support internationalization: the Adjunct Professor Program and the International Student Scholarship.
Henry emphasized that the Erasmus Plus program offers tremendous opportunities for UPNVJ lecturers and students to gain academic experience in Europe, particularly at the University of Poitiers—one of the oldest universities in Europe, founded in 1431. He also highlighted that the presence of Poitiers lecturers at UPNVJ from January to May 2025 helps broaden the international perspectives of the UPNVJ academic community.
Dr. Dianwicaksih added that beyond collaboration with the University of Poitiers, several lecturers from UPNVJ’s Faculty of Economics and Business have been collaborating since 2019 with prominent European universities, such as the University of Paris Sorbonne, Paris Nouvelle Sorbonne University, and researchers from Inalco Paris.
These collaborations include faculty exchanges, online class teaching, joint research, as well as hosting seminars and workshops.
During the “Welcome Morning Tea and Coffee” session, the full four-day agenda was also presented, including meetings and intensive discussions with several academic and research units at the University of Poitiers, including:
- UFR Économie (Training and Research Unit in Economics): Ongoing research discussions between UPNVJ’s Center for Strategic and Sustainable Development Studies (Puska SSUD) and economic researchers.
- IC2MP (Institute of Chemistry of Environments and Materials of Poitiers): A multidisciplinary research institution collaborating with France’s CNRS.
- Faculty of Music, University of Poitiers: A classical music performance by lecturer and musician Marlene Belly, who also actively collaborates with music faculties in Indonesia.
- IAE Poitiers (Institute of Business Administration of Poitiers): The University of Poitiers’ business school.
- Internationalization Strategy Seminar: Led by Stéphane Mottet.
- EUNIVERSE Project Discussion: An initiative by the University of Poitiers supporting international student and refugee mobility and integration, coordinated by Camille Sauvage from SURIEE. This project is funded by Erasmus+ and involves the entire campus community.
The visit will conclude with a final presentation at the École Nationale Supérieure d’Ingénieurs de Poitiers (ENSIP), led by Prof. Guillaume Mercère.
This visit marks a strategic moment for expanding UPNVJ’s international network while enhancing the university’s global reputation through ongoing collaboration in academic and research fields.
