UPN Veteran Jakarta Launches Day Care Program to Support National Defense Education

Enviro News Asia, Jakarta – Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ) has strengthened its commitment to the Directorate General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology’s impact program by launching the Day Care Bela Negara initiative. This project is part of the UPN Community Territory (UCT) program, a corporate social responsibility effort aimed at benefiting the local community in Limo, Depok.

The Day Care Bela Negara officially opened at the UPNVJ Limo campus in early September 2025. It provides early childhood care and educational services for children from infancy to preschool age. The program focuses on supporting both children and their parents through education, nutrition, and developmental stimulation.

Prof. Dr. Ir. Netti Herawati, UPNVJ’s Vice Rector for Planning, Finance, and General Affairs, explained, “UCT was established as a demonstration of UPNVJ’s care for the surrounding community. Day Care Bela Negara aims to provide comprehensive support to parents and children through educational services and developmental stimulation.”

In addition to the day care, UCT includes ongoing programs such as Sekolah Kasih and Kelas Ibu Bayi, which have been operating since 2024 in Limo District, Depok. These programs focus on supporting child development from pregnancy through early childhood, aligning with the spirit of national defense education to nurture a healthy, strong, and superior generation.

Sekolah Kasih targets pregnant mothers, emphasizing the critical first 1,000 days of the child’s life. It integrates expertise from four UPNVJ study programs: Nutrition, Nursing, Physiotherapy.

In 2025, UPNVJ expanded UCT by launching Kelas Ibu Bayi for infants aged 6 to 8 months. Prof. Netti added, “This class educates parents on baby developmental stimulation. We provide stimulation tools, demonstrate application techniques, and ask parents to send video evaluations to ensure continuous implementation.”

UPNVJ aims to produce tangible and innovative outcomes through UCT, such as the “Fetal Stimulation” book for expecting mothers. The university envisions expanding the program to other regions to support the formation of a robust and competitive generation. “We strive for UCT to become a model for impactful community service while reinforcing UPNVJ’s role as a National Defense Campus,” said Prof. Netti.

By integrating education, health, and childcare, UPNVJ continues to demonstrate its dedication to the welfare of society and national development. (www.upnvj.ac.id)
