Enviro News Asia, Jakarta — Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ), in collaboration with the University of Lampung, co-hosted the 2026 BKS PTN Barat Journal Management Conference at the University of Lampung on July 9–10, bringing together journal managers from 39 Indonesian state universities to strengthen scholarly publishing and promote international journal indexing.
Held under the theme “Strengthening the Governance of National Journals Toward International Indexing and Scientific Publication Collaboration within BKS PTN Barat,” the conference was attended in person by representatives from 18 universities, while delegates from the remaining institutions participated virtually. The event was officially opened by the Rector of the University of Lampung, Prof. Dr. Ir. Lusmeilia Afriani, D.E.A., I.P.M.
Dr. Sri Lestari Wahyuningroem, M.A., Ph.D., Chair of the Forum of Heads of Research and Community Service Institutions of BKS PTN Barat (FK LPPM BKS PTN Barat) and Head of UPNVJ’s Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM), said the conference was the first forum specifically dedicated to journal managers within the BKS PTN Barat network.
She said the forum is expected to strengthen collaboration among journal managers through the development of reviewer networks, institutional capacity building, and human resource development to help journals achieve international recognition.
The conference featured experts discussing global publishing trends, national journal accreditation policies, academic integrity in the era of artificial intelligence, and strategies for improving journal quality to achieve SINTA 1 accreditation and international indexing. Participants also learned best practices in journal management from editors of internationally indexed journals at the University of Lampung.
The conference reflects BKS PTN Barat’s commitment to developing a professional, sustainable, and internationally competitive scholarly publishing ecosystem. UPNVJ’s role as co-host also demonstrates the university’s commitment to strengthening research collaboration and enhancing the global visibility of Indonesia’s scientific publications.
