Enviro News Asia, Jakarta – Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ) has officially sent five students to participate in the 2026 BKS-PTN Barat International Community Service Program (International KKN), reaffirming the university’s commitment to expanding global collaboration and strengthening community engagement through multidisciplinary service initiatives.
The send-off ceremony was led by UPNVJ Rector Prof. Dr. Anter Venus, M.A., Comm., at the university’s Rectorate Building in Jakarta on July 20, ahead of the students’ 32-day community service assignment in Tasikmalaya Regency and Pangandaran Regency, West Java, from July 21 to August 24.
The International KKN program brings together students from Indonesian and overseas universities to collaborate with local communities in identifying regional potential and implementing sustainable community empowerment programs. The initiative also involves local governments, industries, community organizations, and other stakeholders to support regional development through collaborative service projects.
In his remarks, Prof. Anter Venus said community service reflects the State Defense (Bela Negara) values that serve as the foundation of UPNVJ’s identity. He encouraged participants to apply the knowledge acquired during their studies to develop practical solutions that generate meaningful benefits for local communities.
He emphasized that universities fulfill their responsibilities not only through education and research but also by directly contributing to society through impactful community service programs.
During the program, participants will engage with communities from diverse social and cultural backgrounds, providing opportunities to strengthen leadership, communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills while fostering greater social awareness and empathy.
The program also aims to promote the values of State Defense within the framework of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, strengthen international student networks under the spirit of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika (Unity in Diversity), and support sustainable community empowerment based on local needs.
Prof. Anter Venus urged the students to uphold the university’s reputation, respect local traditions, establish strong relationships with community members, and implement programs that contribute to improving people’s quality of life.
The five UPNVJ students selected for the 2026 BKS-PTN Barat International Community Service Program are Addyne Aulyfah Arvrian from the Faculty of Law, Sutyasari and Majid Ali from the Faculty of Health Sciences, Ameilya Az-Zahra from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, and Zahir Khan Makakmayum from the Faculty of Economics and Business.
UPNVJ expects the participants to develop sustainable community initiatives while enhancing their ability to collaborate across disciplines and cultures. The university believes the experience will prepare students to address future global challenges and further strengthen its vision of becoming an “Impactful Campus” through meaningful contributions to society.
