Enviro News Asia, Jakarta — The Ministry of Forestry held a ceremony to commemorate Hari Bakti Rimbawan 2026 in Jakarta on March 16, 2026, highlighting efforts to strengthen sustainable forest management and institutional reform.
Vice Minister of Forestry Rohmat Marzuki led the ceremony and emphasized that this year’s observance carries deeper meaning as it coincides with the holy month of Ramadan. He noted that the values of sincerity, self-discipline, devotion, and social responsibility reflected during Ramadan align closely with the principles upheld by forestry professionals.
Carrying the theme “Sincere Work, Quality Governance, Foresters Building Sustainable Life,” the Vice Minister reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to advancing forestry governance that is transparent, professional, science-based, and grounded in good governance principles.
He outlined that forest management faces increasingly complex challenges, including climate change, forest and land fires, floods, landslides, and mounting pressure on forest areas. In response, the Ministry continues to implement collaborative policy transformations at the national level.
The Ministry is advancing several strategic measures, including strengthening forest protection and environmental law enforcement to prevent illegal exploitation, expanding social forestry programs to empower local communities economically, and intensifying forest and land rehabilitation efforts alongside watershed restoration to mitigate hydrometeorological disasters.
The government is also promoting a green forestry economy through environmental services, carbon trading, and multi-business forestry initiatives that generate new economic opportunities while preserving ecosystems. In addition, the Ministry is modernizing governance through digitalization and integrated forestry data systems to improve transparency, accountability, and efficiency.
Rohmat further highlighted the adoption of a Decision Support System approach, which integrates digitalization, synergy, and simplification in policy-making and public service delivery within the forestry sector.
During the same event, the Ministry awarded Satya Lencana Wira Karya and Satya Lencana Karya Satya to several civil servants in recognition of their long-term dedication and service. The honors were presented to officials who have demonstrated loyalty, integrity, competence, and discipline in serving the nation for at least 10, 20, or 30 years. (*)
