Enviro News Asia, Karawang — PT PLN (Persero) has supplied 250 MVA of high-voltage electricity to PT Indah Kiat Pulp & Paper (IKPP) Karawang Mill, marking a strategic move to support national industrial growth and global competitiveness.
The power connection is supported by the operation of the SUTT Telukjambe–KTT IKK 150 kV transmission line, spanning 8.48 kilometers, developed by PLN’s regional infrastructure unit.
With the additional capacity, IKPP is expected to boost production of industrial paper products, including brown and white paper, while creating up to 2,500 jobs both directly and indirectly.
PLN Director of Retail and Commerce Adi Priyanto stated that the project demonstrates PLN’s readiness to provide reliable and high-quality electricity to support industrial productivity and national economic growth.
PLN Commissioner Jisman P. Hutajulu added that rising industrial electricity demand presents both opportunities and responsibilities for PLN to strengthen infrastructure and services.
Meanwhile, IKPP Karawang Mill Head Hendri Gunawan described the connection as a milestone in strengthening strategic collaboration between the company and PLN to enhance Indonesia’s industrial competitiveness in global markets. (*)
