UPN Veteran Jakarta Encourages Students to Prepare for Green Economy Careers Through Sustainable Career Pathways

Enviro News Asia, Jakarta — The Rector of Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta, Prof. Dr. Anter Venus, emphasized the importance of building sustainable career pathways for students in response to the rapidly evolving global workforce during the “Socialization of Facilitation and Development for Prospective Workers in Green Jobs” held on Wednesday, 13 May 2026.

The event brought together representatives from government institutions, industry, and professional associations to provide students with broader perspectives on career opportunities emerging in the green economy era. The initiative highlighted the growing relevance of green jobs amid technological transformation, industrial shifts, and increasing global attention to sustainability issues.

In his remarks, Prof. Venus stated that future careers should not only focus on employment opportunities but also on meaningful contributions to environmental sustainability and human civilization.

“I hope this activity can provide insight, inspiration, and motivation for all participants in designing sustainable careers that are beneficial for society and the environment. Take advantage of this opportunity to learn and broaden your perspective on the world of work in the era of the green economy,” he said.

According to the Rector, higher education institutions hold a strategic role in preparing young generations to adapt to future labor market demands. He stressed that students must develop not only academic competence, but also critical thinking, communication, collaboration, adaptability, and environmental awareness.

The event also underlined the expanding opportunities within green jobs sectors, including renewable energy, energy efficiency, waste management, sustainable transportation, and environmentally friendly agriculture. These sectors increasingly require innovative and socially responsible young professionals capable of supporting sustainable development.

The socialization program featured several speakers, including Isnarti Hasan, Tina Andrilina, and Dr. Ayu Dwi Nindyati. Their presentations provided participants with insights into employment policies, industrial competency standards, and the psychological readiness required in today’s workforce.

Through this initiative, UPN Veteran Jakarta aims to help students better understand labor market transformations and prepare career paths aligned with sustainability values, personal interests, and professional competencies. The university also reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening student capacity development in line with its Bela Negara educational philosophy, which emphasizes contributions to sustainable national development and environmental responsibility.

Prof. Venus further stated that UPNVJ will continue supporting programs that prepare graduates to become adaptive, competitive, and impactful contributors to inclusive and sustainable development in Indonesia. (www.upnvj.ac.id)
