APHI Appoints Soewarso as Interim Chairman for 2025-2026 Term

Enviro News Asia, Bogor – The National Leadership Meeting (RAPIMNAS) of the Indonesian Forest Entrepreneurs Association (APHI) 2025 appointed Dr. Soewarso as the Interim Chairman for the 2025-2026 term. This decision resulted from a consensus among six APHI Vice Chairmen in accordance with the organization’s Articles of Association and Bylaws (AD/ART).

The RAPIMNAS, held on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at The Alana Hotel & Conference Center in Sentul City, West Java, functioned as a critical forum to ensure organizational continuity following the departure of the previous Chairman, Prof. Dr. Ir. Dwisuryo Indroyono Soesilo, M.Sc., who was assigned by the Indonesian government as Ambassador to the United States.

According to Article 30 Paragraph 1 of APHI’s 2021 AD/ART, if the Chairman is permanently unable to serve or resigns before the end of the term, one of the Vice Chairmen must be appointed by RAPIMNAS to carry out the duties until the term concludes. Based on this regulation, the APHI Board of Directors and Supervisory Board convened RAPIMNAS 2025 to appoint an interim leader until the 2026 National Congress.

Dr. Soewarso remarked, “This year’s RAPIMNAS was held to comply with our AD/ART mandate to maintain leadership continuity.”

Through consensus, the six Vice Chairmen selected Soewarso, previously serving as Vice Chairman for Sustainable Forest Management, to lead the organization as Interim Chairman for 2025–2026.

Soewarso expressed his gratitude towards Prof. Indroyono, noting, “We deeply appreciate Prof. Indroyono’s more than eight years of leadership, during which he achieved remarkable milestones and elevated APHI’s international stature.”

The interim appointment serves two key purposes: first, it guarantees APHI’s uninterrupted operations ahead of the 2026 National Congress; second, it demonstrates APHI’s commitment to transparent governance in line with organizational rules.

With the conclusion of RAPIMNAS 2025, APHI enters a leadership transition phase that will continue until 2026. This decision not only sustains organizational stability but also reinforces APHI’s role as a strategic partner of the government and forestry business actors in promoting sustainable development. (*)
