Indonesia Explores International Private-Sector Partnerships for Forest and Land Restoration

Enviro News Asia, Belém — The Indonesian Ministry of Forestry continued to strengthen its global engagement at COP30 UNFCCC by exploring international private-sector collaboration for forest and land restoration programs. A bilateral meeting was held between the Indonesian delegation—represented by the Director of Mangrove Rehabilitation and the Head of Public Relations and International Cooperation Bureau—and representatives of a private company based in Dubai and Beijing.

During the discussion, the company expressed strong interest in investing in Indonesia’s forest and land rehabilitation initiatives. According to the Indonesian delegation, the firm has extensive experience in restoration projects across several countries, including Uzbekistan, Uganda, Mauritania, and the United Arab Emirates, particularly in large-scale desert planting initiatives.

The Ministry of Forestry welcomed the interest from the private sector and highlighted opportunities for cooperation through Indonesia’s national mangrove rehabilitation program, a key priority within the country’s climate and environmental agenda. Both parties agreed to begin exploring collaboration through the development of an initial pilot project.

The Ministry emphasized that private-sector participation is expected to strengthen Indonesia’s ongoing forest restoration efforts while contributing meaningfully to climate-change mitigation and sustainable environmental management. (*)
