Indonesia Pavilion at COP30 Officially Opens: Bridging the World Toward a Low-Emission Economy

Enviro News Asia, Belém — Indonesia reaffirmed its role as one of the leading drivers of global green diplomacy by officially inaugurating the Indonesia Pavilion at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30) in Belém, Brazil. The inauguration was led by the President’s Special Envoy for Climate and Energy, Hashim S. Djojohadikusumo, accompanied by the Minister of Environment and Head of BPLH, Hanif Faisol Nurofiq, and attended by delegates from various countries, international organizations, the private sector, and civil society groups.

In his remarks, Hashim stated that the Indonesia Pavilion would serve as a strategic collaboration hub throughout the eleven-day COP30 conference. The pavilion will host thematic discussions, bilateral meetings, program presentations, and cross-country collaboration platforms aimed at strengthening contributions to global climate action.

“We are opening wide opportunities for all stakeholders to participate,” he said. Hashim emphasized that the pavilion represents Indonesia’s commitment to accelerating tangible actions toward a low-emission transition.

Minister Hanif Faisol Nurofiq highlighted that the pavilion’s presence is a concrete step to connect global ambitions with national implementation.

“We are not here merely to negotiate; we are here to demonstrate that Indonesia is ready to become the world’s green bridge—linking governments, businesses, and global communities through high-integrity carbon markets,” Hanif stated.

Carrying the theme “Accelerating Substantial Actions of Net Zero Achievement through Indonesia High Integrity Carbon,” the Indonesia Pavilion features more than 50 strategic sessions, including ministerial dialogues, CEO talks, and the innovative “Seller Meet Buyer” forum, introduced for the first time since Indonesia’s participation in COP.

The Seller Meet Buyer forum drew significant attention for facilitating direct meetings between global carbon credit sellers and buyers. The initiative operates under the High Integrity Carbon Market Framework, with an economic potential of up to USD 7.7 billion annually and 90 million tons of Quality Carbon Units ready for trade.

“Carbon markets are more than economic transactions—they are a means of upholding integrity and building global trust in Indonesia’s carbon system,” Minister Hanif stressed.

Throughout the two-week COP30, the Indonesia Pavilion will serve as a showcase of Indonesia’s environmental diplomacy, highlighting innovations across sectors such as forestry, energy, industry, and waste management. It will also host the launch of several strategic partnerships, including collaborations with the UK Government and The Royal Foundation to promote green financing and low-emission technology transfer.

“Environmental diplomacy no longer ends at the negotiation table—it is time for real implementation. Indonesia stands ready to lead with global partners toward a just and low-emission future,” said Hanif.

This year’s pavilion combines cultural and sustainability elements, equipped with interactive digital technology that allows the global audience to follow all sessions online through the official KLH/BPLH channels.

“We envision the Indonesia Pavilion as a symbol of openness, collaboration, and Indonesia’s leadership spirit in addressing the climate crisis,” concluded Minister Hanif. (*)
