Indonesia Reaffirms Commitment to Strengthen Global Collaboration for High-Integrity Carbon Markets at COP30

Enviro News Asia, Belém — The Vice Minister of Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia, Rohmat Marzuki, reaffirmed Indonesia’s readiness to strengthen integrity and international collaboration in the development of global carbon markets. He delivered this message during the Coalition to Grow Carbon Markets event held at the Singapore Pavilion during COP30 UNFCCC in Belém, Brazil, on Monday (November 10).

During the forum, Indonesia expressed appreciation to the coalition’s founding countries for their commitment to advancing credible, inclusive, and transparent carbon markets. “We highly appreciate the Government of Singapore, as Co-Chair of the Coalition, for organizing this event which promotes collective action to mobilize private sector financing through carbon markets,” said the Vice Minister.

He also extended his gratitude to Kenya, the United Kingdom, Singapore, France, and Panama for their roles in forming the coalition. According to him, this initiative holds strategic significance for accelerating climate action and supporting sustainable development goals across nations.

“Indonesia shares the same commitment to ensure that carbon markets operate with credibility and transparency, deliver tangible benefits to communities and nature, and foster sustainable economic growth,” he emphasized.

The Vice Minister noted that Indonesia is strengthening its national carbon market architecture through the issuance of Presidential Regulation No. 110 of 2025 on the Carbon Economic Value (NEK). This regulation serves as an essential foundation for building a structured, inclusive carbon market ecosystem that is interconnected with international markets.

“Our strategy is clear: to reinforce regulatory certainty, align national Measurement, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) standards with global best practices, and open pathways for investments supporting nature-based mitigation solutions,” he added.

Indonesia also welcomed the Shared Principles promoted by the Coalition to Grow Carbon Markets, which serve as guidance for governments and the private sector to uphold high integrity in carbon credit utilization.

“Indonesia stands ready to collaborate with all global partners to ensure that carbon markets not only reduce emissions but also enhance community welfare, protect biodiversity, and promote more sustainable development,” concluded the Vice Minister. (*)
