Enviro News Asia, Jakarta — Indonesia’s Ministry of Forestry (Kemenhut) has launched its 2026 Anti-Corruption Prevention Workshop to strengthen integrity and promote clean, transparent, and accountable governance across the forestry sector.
The workshop, themed “Unite Action, Prevent and Eradicate Corruption,” was opened by Vice Forestry Minister Rohmat Marzuki and marked the launch of the ministry’s Conflict of Interest Management and Handling System.
In his opening remarks, Rohmat said the ministry’s success should be measured not only by the number of programs implemented but also by the level of public trust built through transparent, accountable, and corruption-free governance.
He emphasized that integrity must become the defining character of every employee and the institutional identity of the Ministry of Forestry.
The vice minister noted that gratuities, bribery, illegal levies, and irregularities in public procurement remain major challenges within the public sector. He called on civil servants to uphold integrity by exercising their authority professionally, objectively, transparently, and responsibly.
Rohmat also said the ministry would use the decline in its 2025 Integrity Assessment Survey (SPI) score as momentum to strengthen governance, improve internal oversight, and foster a stronger culture of integrity.
Despite the lower SPI score, the ministry highlighted several governance achievements, including maintaining an unqualified audit opinion from Indonesia’s Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) for nine consecutive years from 2017 to 2025, receiving the 2025 National Best Ministry Award for Public Procurement Management, earning an AA (Excellent) rating in the Legal Reform Index, and receiving an IKK Award with an Excellent designation.
As part of its anti-corruption strategy, the ministry is expanding digital governance through the development of the SIGAP public information platform and the JAGA RIMBA decision support system, which integrates data and business processes across organizational units. Rohmat said digital transformation not only modernizes government services but also helps reduce opportunities for corruption.
He added that strategic government programs, including the Presidential Assistance initiative at Way Kambas National Park, have been supervised from the planning stage by both the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) and the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) to ensure compliance with good governance principles.
Looking ahead, the ministry plans to strengthen public service digitalization, risk management, gratuity control, whistleblowing mechanisms, asset disclosure compliance, and the establishment of Integrity Zones across all organizational units. It will also implement Forestry Minister Regulation No. 13 of 2025 on Conflict of Interest Management and Forestry Minister Instruction No. 2 of 2026 to reinforce an organizational culture based on integrity.
Acting Inspector General Mahfudz said the workshop serves as a platform to internalize anti-corruption policies and strengthen commitment among ministry officials. Conducted in a hybrid format, the event featured speakers from Indonesia’s Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) and was attended by ministry leaders and employees from both central and regional offices.
