Enviro News Asia, Jakarta – Pertamina New & Renewable Energy (Pertamina NRE) is set to build a solar panel factory to support its plan to export electricity to Singapore. The factory will be developed in collaboration with China.
Pertamina NRE’s Director of Strategic Planning and Business Development, Fadli Rahman, stated that the construction of the solar panel factory marks the initial step in Pertamina NRE’s support for the green electricity export program.
However, he added that the company is not yet able to disclose the production capacity or the value of the investment.
“Pertamina NRE will continue to explore its potential as a developer or producer of green electricity for export,” he said after the signing of a share subscription agreement in Jakarta on Thursday, June 19, 2025.
On the same occasion, Pertamina NRE CEO John Anis said that in the medium and long term, the company views the ASEAN Power Grid (APG) development plan as a major opportunity for electricity exports across Southeast Asia.
Previously, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Singapore’s Minister for Energy and Minister for Science and Technology, Tan See Leng, on Friday, June 13, 2025, at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources office in Jakarta.
The MoU covers clean electricity exports with a capacity of up to 3.4 gigawatts (GW) through 2035. (*)
