Enviro News Asia, Bayung Lencir – PT Wahana Lestari Makmur Sukses (WLMS), a forestry company under ADR Group, held a Forest, Plantation, and Land Fire (Karhutbunlah) Emergency Preparedness Roll Call to strengthen readiness and inter-company coordination ahead of the dry season.
The exercise brought together the company’s management, firefighting team, and representatives from PT Rimba Hutani Mas, PT Sumber Hijau Permai, PT Tripupa Jaya, PT Mentari Subur Abadi, PT Mega Hijau Bersama, PT Global Alam Lestari, PT Restorasi Hutan Sumatera, and PT Medco E&P Grissik Ltd.
The event aimed to enhance communication, coordination, and collaboration among participating companies in preventing and responding to forest, plantation, and land fires during the upcoming dry season.
Speaking at the event, PT WLMS Industrial Plantation Forest (HTI) General Manager Andi Roza emphasized that wildfire prevention is a shared responsibility requiring strong cooperation among stakeholders.
He said closer coordination, timely information sharing, and mutual support in mobilizing resources would enable faster, more effective, and better-coordinated emergency responses whenever fire incidents occur.
In addition to the ceremonial roll call, participants conducted inspections of firefighting personnel, operational vehicles, firefighting equipment, and communication systems to ensure all emergency resources were fully operational and ready for deployment.
The event concluded with a live firefighting simulation performed by the PT WLMS Fire Brigade. The exercise was designed to evaluate emergency preparedness while improving the operational capabilities of firefighting personnel in responding to potential wildfire incidents.
Through the emergency preparedness exercise, PT WLMS reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening cooperation with neighboring companies, implementing occupational safety standards, protecting the environment, and enhancing readiness to prevent forest, plantation, and land fires.
The company expressed hope that stronger collaboration among businesses operating in the region would contribute to more effective wildfire prevention efforts, protect natural resources and company assets, and support the realization of a forest and land fire-free Musi Banyuasin Regency.
