Enviro News Asia, Jakarta – The Ministry of Industry is committed to accelerating the implementation of industrial decarbonization policies and controlling industrial emissions in Indonesia. This effort aims to improve and maintain air quality and public health, aligning with the goal of expediting the transition to green industries.
“These efforts are in line with global demands to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and achieve the national Net Zero Emission target by 2060 or earlier, as well as the Net Zero Emission target for the industrial sector by 2050,” said the Head of the Industrial Services Standardization and Policy Agency (BSKJI) of the Ministry of Industry, Andi Rizaldi, in an official statement in Jakarta on Monday (March 24).
The BSKJI Head emphasized that achieving this goal requires transparency and accuracy in industrial emission data. Therefore, the Ministry of Industry issued Circular Letter of the Minister of Industry No. 2 of 2025 concerning the Submission of Industrial Emission Data through the National Industrial Information System (SIINas).
“We are actively socializing this Circular Letter (SE Menperin 2/2025) to relevant stakeholders, including representatives from government agencies, industry associations, industrial companies, and industrial estate companies. Additionally, strategic collaboration with stakeholders is necessary to ensure the effective implementation of this policy,” he explained.
Andi stated that implementing a technology-based information system like SIINas can facilitate the industrial sector in reporting its emission data in an integrated manner. Furthermore, this system serves as an essential foundation for supporting more effective data-driven policymaking, such as carbon market policies, procurement of environmentally friendly goods/services, and the implementation of Green Industry Standards.
“Through this Circular Letter, the Ministry of Industry is expected to monitor the emission conditions produced by industrial companies and industrial estate companies, as well as provide guidance to industries in maintaining air quality, achieving national greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction targets, decarbonizing the industrial sector, and preparing industries for emission reduction policies,” he added.
The Head of the Green Industry Center at the Ministry of Industry, Apit Pria Nugraha, stated that SE Menperin 2/2025 represents strategic steps in fulfilling Indonesia’s commitment to achieving the Enhanced Nationally Determined Contribution (ENDC) targets. Indonesia aims to reduce GHG emissions by 31.89% through its own efforts and by 43.20% with international support by 2030. “The industrial sector plays a significant role in achieving these targets,” he said.
Apit added that the development of GHG emission data reporting has been ongoing since 2012. However, with the introduction of SIINas, the Ministry of Industry has integrated the reporting system since 2016. “We would like to appreciate all parties who have contributed to the development and implementation of GHG and air pollutant emission reporting, including industry players, associations, and technical directorates within the Ministry of Industry. Moving forward, our challenge is to ensure that this system is accessible, understood, and optimally implemented by all industries,” he concluded
