The award was presented during a tribute ceremony held at the Seminar Room of the Faculty of Mineral Technology, UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta, on Friday, May 2, 2025.
According to a press release, the title was conferred directly by the Chairman of the LVRI Central Executive Board, Lt. Gen. (Ret.) HBL Mantiri, as a recognition of the strategic role played by UPN “Veteran” rectors in instilling the values of struggle and the spirit of patriotism in higher education.
Prof. Anter Venus welcomed the honor as a profound recognition of the academic community’s dedication to preserving the nation’s legacy of struggle.
“Being appointed as an extraordinary member of LVRI is a form of appreciation from the LVRI leadership for the efforts and dedication of university rectors in preserving and actualizing the Spirit, Soul, and Values (JSN) of ’45,” he stated.
Furthermore, Prof. Venus emphasized the importance of synergy between educational institutions and veterans in fostering a spirit of nationalism among the younger generation.
“This honorary membership reflects the strong relationship between UPN Veteran and LVRI. Both institutions reinforce each other — LVRI serves as an inspiration and a role model for patriotic behavior, while UPN acts as the inheritor and guardian of the implementation of national defense values,” he explained.
In addition to Prof. Venus, two other UPN “Veteran” rectors received the same title: Rector of UPN Veteran Yogyakarta, Prof. Dr. Mohamad Irhas Effendi, M.Si, and Rector of UPN Veteran East Java, Prof. Dr. Ir.
