Enviro News Asia, Washington, D.C. — Amidst the crisp autumn air, warmth and camaraderie filled the Indonesian Residence on Tilden Street.
In a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, Ambassador Dwisuryo Indroyono Soesilo and Deputy Chief of Mission Nidya Kartikasari, both newly appointed to their posts in Washington, D.C., met with members of the Indonesian community and diaspora from the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) area.
Organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Washington, D.C., the event served as a meaningful opportunity for introduction and gathering, further strengthening the Embassy’s close engagement with Indonesia’s diverse diaspora communities across the United States.
In his remarks, Ambassador Indroyono Soesilo introduced his wife, Mrs. Nining Indroyono, and their son. He expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome extended to him since his arrival in Washington, D.C. “It feels wonderful to return to Washington—a city that holds a very special place in my heart,” he said, recalling that his late father also served here as Indonesia’s Ambassador from 1986 to 1988. “I sincerely hope that our diaspora will continue to play an active role as a bridge of friendship and cooperation between the peoples of Indonesia and the United States.”
Meanwhile, Deputy Chief of Mission Nidya Kartikasari, accompanied by her husband, Mr. Teddy Ardiansyah, and their two sons, shared her enthusiasm as she embarks on her first assignment in the United States. “This is a new adventure for me, and I am deeply honored to be part of the Embassy’s team here in Washington,” she said. “The Indonesian community in the United States represents an extraordinary pool of talent—professionals, academics, artists, and entrepreneurs—whose contributions are invaluable in strengthening the partnership between our two nations.”
The evening unfolded in a warm and convivial spirit, filled with lively conversations, laughter, and heartfelt well-wishes from members of the diaspora to the Ambassador and DCM and their families. The event reflected the shared commitment of the Embassy of Indonesia in Washington, D.C. and the Indonesian diaspora to continue fostering closer ties of friendship, strengthening the bonds between Indonesia and the United States, and advancing people-to-people contact as a vital foundation of the bilateral relationship.
