This event was part of the official reception for foreign students who will begin their studies in the Odd Semester of the 2025/2026 Academic Year.
The program was organized by UPNVJ’s International Affairs Office (KUI) at the Bhinneka Tunggal Ika Auditorium, Jakarta, on Tuesday (August 19, 2025).
A total of 13 international scholarship recipients from eight countries—Pakistan, India, Yemen, Sudan, Tanzania, Mozambique, and Timor Leste—along with four exchange students from Ablai Khan University, Kazakhstan, joined the program.
They will pursue studies across various faculties, including Social and Political Sciences, Economics and Business, Law, Engineering, Computer Science, Health Sciences, and Medicine.
In his remarks, UPNVJ Rector Prof. Dr. Anter Venus, MA., Comm., emphasized that the diversity of international students is a strength that enriches the learning dynamics.
“UPNVJ is committed to creating an inclusive academic environment where students can learn, grow, and contribute. The presence of international students brings new perspectives and broadens the global outlook of the academic community,” Venus stated in UPNVJ’s official release.
Head of UPNVJ’s International Affairs Office, Dr. Bambang Susanto, MA., added that the 2025 Welcoming Program was designed to help international students adapt both academically and socio-culturally.
“We want them to feel welcomed as part of the UPNVJ family. Their presence not only enriches the campus but also strengthens bonds of friendship among nations,” he said.
The event was also attended by representatives from the Embassies of Pakistan, Sudan, and Mozambique, as well as officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Directorate General of Immigration, Ministry of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia.
In addition to official speeches, the program featured a UPNVJ profile video screening, a traditional Betawi dance performance, and orientation sessions on academic life, student services, public diplomacy, and immigration regulations.
One of the students from Pakistan, Majid Ali, expressed his joy at joining UPNVJ. “I come from a small town in Pakistan. By studying here, I want to bring change to my hometown. After graduation, I also hope to promote Indonesian culture and UPNVJ,” he said.
The 2025 Welcoming Program reflects UPNVJ’s commitment to supporting the internationalization of higher education.
The university hopes that international students will not only gain meaningful academic experiences but also bring home memories of Indonesian culture and serve as ambassadors of friendship on the global stage. (www.upnvj.ac.id)
