Enviro News Asia, Jakarta — The Attorney General’s Office of the Republic of Indonesia officially handed over state financial recoveries and reclaimed forest areas during the sixth phase of administrative sanctions enforcement and forest area recovery.
The event, held in Jakarta and witnessed by President Prabowo Subianto, marked the recovery of Rp11.42 trillion (approximately USD 720 million) in state funds from multiple sources.
The recovered funds consist of administrative fines in the forestry sector and enforcement by the Forest Area Control Task Force (PKH) amounting to Rp7.23 trillion, non-tax state revenue (PNBP) from corruption case handling totaling Rp1.96 trillion, tax revenues of Rp967.7 billion, tax contributions from PT Agrinas Palma Nusantara (Persero) amounting to Rp180.5 billion, and environmental fines contributing Rp1.14 trillion.
In addition to financial recovery, the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic of Indonesia also transferred control of reclaimed forest areas to the Ministry of Forestry of Indonesia, covering a total of 254,780.12 hectares of conservation and protected forest land.
The areas include production forest designated for conservation in Ketapang, West Kalimantan (149,198.09 hectares), Taman Hutan Raya Laikombi (510.03 hectares), and part of Gunung Halimun Salak National Park (105,072 hectares).
President Prabowo Subianto emphasized the importance of safeguarding national natural resources, stating that every hectare of forest land and every rupiah of state wealth must be managed with integrity for the benefit of the people and the sustainability of ecosystems.
“Protecting and recovering state assets is a noble and honorable duty,” he said.
The Ministry of Forestry of Indonesia described the reclamation as a critical step toward improving forest governance. The ministry plans to restore the ecological functions of the recovered areas through intensive rehabilitation programs while strengthening coordination with relevant institutions to prevent illegal activities within state forest zones.
