Enviro News Asia, Jakarta — Universitas Pembangunan Nasional Veteran Jakarta (UPNVJ) has strengthened the implementation of its strategic partnership with Nusantara One through a follow-up meeting held at the Rector’s Office on Wednesday, 6 May 2026.
The meeting focused on accelerating the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the Impactful Research and Innovation Program for the Archipelago, aimed at generating collaborative research, innovation, and publications that contribute to sustainable development in Indonesia.
The discussion was attended by UPNVJ Rector Anter Venus alongside Prof. Acim Heri Iswanto and Charles Bonar Sirait.
The collaboration is formalized under MoU numbers 002/NUSANTARAONE-03/2026 and 30/UN61/KS.00.00/2026, signed on 16 February 2026. The partnership focuses on advancing research and innovation initiatives that support sustainable development, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and Indonesia’s Net Zero Emissions 2060 agenda.
Prior to the latest meeting, both institutions had maintained intensive communication through a series of official correspondences, including a letter from the UPNVJ Rector dated 26 January 2026 and a positive response issued on 18 February 2026. Cross-sector support has also begun to emerge, including engagement with Indonesia’s Downstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Agency (BPH Migas) regarding the strengthening of the program.
During the meeting, UPNVJ and Nusantara One agreed on several strategic priorities, including accelerating the signing of a Cooperation Agreement before 17 August 2026, establishing a Program Working Group by 10 May 2026, and preparing a national publication strategy scheduled to begin in August 2026 through collaboration with national media partners.
UPNVJ will also provide institutional and resource support to ensure the sustainability of the program. These efforts include establishing a joint secretariat, strengthening implementation teams, and developing operational mechanisms to ensure the program can operate independently starting in May 2026.
The Program Working Group will play a central role in building partnerships with ministries, government agencies, businesses, research communities, and other strategic stakeholders. Through this collaborative approach, the Impactful Research and Innovation Program is expected not only to generate academic ideas but also to contribute practical solutions to national challenges.
Rector Anter Venus emphasized that the partnership marks an important step in strengthening the role of universities as drivers of national innovation.
“UPNVJ fully welcomes and supports the continuation of this collaboration with Nusantara One. This program is an important momentum to deliver research that is not only academically excellent but also capable of creating real impact for society and national development,” he stated.
He also highlighted the importance of synergy with Indonesia’s Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology to ensure the long-term success of the initiative. According to him, university research must become increasingly relevant to national priorities, strengthen competitiveness, and provide direct benefits to communities.
Meanwhile, Charles Bonar Sirait reaffirmed Nusantara One’s commitment to deepening collaboration with UPNVJ. He noted that the partnership opens opportunities for strategic initiatives that can strengthen youth engagement and Indonesia’s national innovation ecosystem.
Regular coordination meetings are scheduled to continue, with the first Working Group coordination session planned no later than 20 May 2026 to finalize implementation strategies, clarify institutional roles, and prepare the program’s action plan.
Nusantara One, founded by Charles Bonar Sirait, is a cross-sector collaboration platform focusing on raising youth awareness regarding sustainable development, clean energy, climate change, education, and technology-based innovation.
Through this partnership, Universitas Pembangunan Nasional Veteran Jakarta reaffirmed its commitment as a state-defense university that not only prioritizes academic excellence but also tangible contributions to national development. (www.upnvj.ac.id)
