Enviro News Asia, Jakarta — The Asosiasi Dosen dan Peneliti Ilmu Komunikasi Indonesia (ADPIKI) has signed a cooperation agreement with Edu Asia under PT Global Communication Network Indonesia to strengthen the implementation of the Tridharma of Higher Education, encompassing education, research, and community service.
The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed on Thursday, 7 May 2026, as part of efforts to reinforce collaboration between academia and the communication industry in Indonesia amid rapid digital transformation.
Chairman of ADPIKI Heri Budianto stated that the collaboration with Edu Asia represents a strategic step toward expanding opportunities for research downstreaming and strengthening the competencies of communication lecturers and researchers in the digital era.
According to him, higher education institutions cannot operate independently without support from industry ecosystems capable of bridging academic research and innovation with broader societal implementation.
“This collaboration marks an important momentum for ADPIKI to strengthen the role of communication lecturers and researchers so they not only produce academic studies, but also generate tangible impacts for society and industry,” said Heri Budianto.
He added that strengthening institutional networks is essential to improving the quality of higher education, particularly in addressing challenges posed by media transformation, digital technology development, and increasingly complex communication competencies.
Heri also noted that the partnership could open opportunities for joint programs, professional training, publications, and collaborative cross-sector research initiatives.
Meanwhile, President Director of PT Global Communication Network Indonesia Azizie Hanief Azhad emphasized the company’s commitment through Edu Asia to support academic capacity building and the professional development of communication practitioners through educational platforms, media initiatives, and strategic networking programs.
“Synergy between academia and industry has become increasingly important today. Edu Asia aims to serve as a bridge connecting academic ideas with practical needs in the field, ensuring that research and scholarly perspectives can provide broader benefits to society,” he said.
The agreement covers cooperation in education, research, and community service. Under the MoU, both parties may develop various collaborative programs based on mutual needs and agreements to support higher education quality improvement and human resource development in the communication sector.
Asosiasi Dosen dan Peneliti Ilmu Komunikasi Indonesia is a professional organization representing communication lecturers and researchers across Indonesia, while Edu Asia operates under PT Global Communication Network Indonesia, which focuses on communication, media, and educational network development.
Through this collaboration, both institutions aim to strengthen the contribution of communication scholars in supporting knowledge-based and innovation-driven national development. (*)
