DSWD-Caraga Deploys Mobile Storage Units to Davao to Support Earthquake Relief Operations

Enviro News Asia, Butuan City — The Department of Social Welfare and Development in the Caraga Region (DSWD-13) has dispatched two Mobile Storage Units (MSUs) to the Davao Region to strengthen relief operations following the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck Mindanao on Monday.

In a statement, DSWD-13 said the mobile facilities would serve as temporary warehouses during emergency situations, ensuring the efficient storage, management, and rapid distribution of humanitarian assistance to affected communities.

“The MSUs will serve as a temporary warehouse during emergencies and ensure the organized storage, management, and rapid distribution of relief goods,” DSWD-13 said.

The agency noted that the deployment is intended to enhance disaster response capabilities and support ongoing humanitarian operations in areas impacted by the powerful earthquake.

The magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck shortly after 7 a.m. on Monday, shaking large parts of Mindanao. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) identified the epicenter offshore near General Santos City.

Davao Region is among the areas affected by the strong tremor, alongside parts of Region 12, where the earthquake originated. Authorities continue to assess damage and provide assistance to affected communities.

The deployment of the Mobile Storage Units is expected to facilitate faster delivery of relief supplies and improve coordination among response agencies as humanitarian efforts continue across the affected regions. (*)
