Enviro News Asia, Medan— The Central Executive Board of Asosiasi Pengusaha Hutan Indonesia (APHI) held a coordination and consultative meeting with the Regional Commissariats (KOMDA) of Aceh and North Sumatra to evaluate the 2025 work program and discuss priorities and challenges for 2026.
APHI Chairman Soewarso opened the meeting, which formed part of efforts to strengthen organizational consolidation and improve coordination between the central board and regional members. The forum was attended by Vice Chair I of KOMDA Aceh and North Sumatra, Mawardi Nasution, along with regional management and members.
The meeting also involved APHI Secretary General Purwadi Soeprihanto and Vice Chair of the Public Relations and Cooperation Committee Trisia Megawati. In addition, Chairman of KOMDA Riau Muller Tampubolon and his delegation participated in the discussion.
Participants reviewed the implementation of APHI programs throughout 2025 and identified key challenges facing the forestry industry, including issues related to industrial plantation forests and natural forest management. The discussion also focused on setting strategic priorities for the 2026 work program to ensure greater effectiveness and adaptability to regulatory, operational, and business dynamics.
Soewarso emphasized the importance of unity and alignment between APHI’s central leadership, regional commissariats, and members in responding to industry challenges. He stated that the meeting served as a strategic moment to harmonize perspectives, evaluate past performance, and formulate forward-looking solutions to support a sustainable and competitive forestry business climate.
Meanwhile, Mawardi Nasution highlighted that active participation from Aceh and North Sumatra reflected strong regional commitment to contributing to organizational decision-making. He noted that the forum enabled regional members to convey on-the-ground conditions directly and jointly develop solutions so that challenges encountered in 2025 could become a foundation for improvement in 2026.
Through this meeting, APHI and KOMDA Aceh and North Sumatra agreed to strengthen central–regional coordination, address key obstacles in the forestry sector, and ensure that the 2026 work program is more focused, realistic, and impactful for the sustainability of Indonesia’s forestry industry.
