Bandung City Government Welcomes UPNVJ’s International Programs, Opens Pathways for Global Research and Student Mobility

Enviro News Asia, Bandung — The Bandung City Government expressed its appreciation for the internationalization initiatives of Universitas Pembangunan Nasional Veteran Jakarta (UPNVJ), highlighting new opportunities for collaboration in research, education, and global student mobility. The appreciation was conveyed during a delegation visit by UPNVJ’s Office of International Affairs to Bandung City Hall on Friday, 30 January 2026.

The meeting took place at the Bandung City Government office and was attended by representatives from the city administration, including Christine Mugiarestu from the Cooperation Bureau, representing the City Secretary of Bandung, Iskandar Zulkarnain. The discussion focused on strengthening cross-sector collaboration between higher education institutions and local governments to enhance human resource development and global competitiveness.

Representing UPNVJ, Dr. Bambang Susanto outlined the university’s internationalization strategy as a key instrument to reinforce the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education through structured and sustainable global partnerships. UPNVJ introduced various programs managed by its Office of International Affairs, including inbound and outbound student and faculty exchanges, joint research initiatives, joint publications, international seminars, global internship schemes, and visiting professor programs.

The Bandung City Government responded positively to the proposed initiatives, emphasizing the importance of synergy between academic institutions and government entities to support innovative research and the development of regionally relevant human capital. The city administration underlined that collaboration in education and research should align with local policy priorities to generate tangible benefits for the community.

Christine Mugiarestu stated that the Bandung City Government remains open to institutional partnerships, particularly those that move beyond ceremonial agreements toward practical cooperation with measurable social and economic impact. She encouraged both parties to design collaborative programs that directly address community needs and regional development challenges.

During the strategic dialogue, both sides also explored opportunities for the Bandung City Government to support the implementation of UPNVJ’s international cooperation agenda, including potential collaboration with international partners currently engaged with the city.
