Enviro News Asia, Beijing — China’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs has released an implementation plan outlining a series of measures to further advance agricultural modernization and promote comprehensive rural revitalization.
The plan emphasizes ensuring stable production of grain and edible oil, modernizing the livestock sector, fostering high-quality development in fisheries, and safeguarding output of key commercial crops, including cotton, sugar, rubber, fruits, and vegetables. It also calls for the development of a diversified food supply system to strengthen national food security.
Additional measures focus on expanding high-standard farmland, enhancing capacity for disaster prevention and mitigation, improving the overall safety and quality of agricultural products, and strengthening international agricultural cooperation.
To consolidate and expand the gains of poverty alleviation, the plan outlines steps to improve regular support policies, deliver more targeted and timely assistance, enhance the effectiveness of industrial and employment support programs, and implement tiered, differentiated measures for underdeveloped regions.
The plan further highlights efforts to reinforce agricultural science, technology, and equipment support, promote a comprehensive green transition in agriculture, expand rural industries to boost farmers’ incomes, accelerate improvements in rural living conditions, and deepen rural reform to support long-term, sustainable development.
