Enviro News Asia, Belém — Correios, the Brazilian Postal Service, is managing a global logistics operation to transport materials and equipment for United Nations agencies and delegations participating in COP30. The operation involves twelve shipments totaling more than 230 packages and approximately 25 tons of cargo to Parque da Cidade, Belém, Pará.
The first shipment, weighing around one ton, arrived at the Blue Zone on October 8, 2025, from the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). A second shipment of about four tons is expected to arrive in the coming days. Correios is currently handling shipments from Singapore, Sweden, and the United Kingdom, with additional cargo scheduled from China, the United States, Morocco, Portugal, and Brazil.
Correios’ responsibilities for COP30 include international transport, customs clearance, warehousing, and on-site delivery. All materials will be returned to their countries of origin after November 24, 2025.
By coordinating this operation, Correios reinforces its position as a strategic logistics partner in the global climate agenda, aligning with its 2025–2029 Strategic Plan and Corporate Sustainability Policy.
The initiative follows an International Cooperation Agreement signed on July 1, 2025, between Correios and the Organization of Ibero-American States (OEI), marking a milestone in sustainable logistics and creating new business opportunities for the state-owned company. (*)
