Enviro News Asia, Bogor — The reading of the Dramaga Message marked a key moment at the National Foresters Gathering 2026, held at the Dramaga Campus of IPB University in Bogor, on Saturday (14 February 2026).
The message was delivered by the Dean of the Faculty of Forestry and Environment at IPB University, Prof. Dodik Ridho Nurrochmat, in the presence of Indonesia’s Minister of Forestry Raja Juli Antoni, the Vice Minister of Forestry, and approximately 500 foresters representing alumni associations, universities, and regional branches of Sylva Indonesia from across the country.
Prof. Dodik explained that the Dramaga Message reflects five core commitments of Indonesian foresters to safeguard the future of national forestry. The first commitment is to oversee national forestry policies to ensure they remain grounded in science, sustainability, and ecological justice.
The second commitment emphasizes strengthening the role of forestry campuses as centres of thought, innovation, and objective, constructive policy solutions, while serving as the primary platform for nurturing and regenerating young foresters who are professional, ethical, and committed to forest conservation.
The third commitment underlines the role of foresters as agents of change, while reinforcing professional solidarity as a moral and intellectual force in responding to future forestry challenges. The fourth commitment focuses on building and maintaining inclusive and sustainable national collaboration among foresters and relevant stakeholders.
The fifth commitment affirms the shared responsibility of Indonesian foresters in the prevention, mitigation, and recovery of environmental disasters through forestry-based approaches and sustainable landscape management.
“Indonesian foresters believe that the future of forestry depends greatly on the quality of collaboration, professional integrity, and the courage to think and act beyond sectoral interests,” Prof. Dodik stated.
Following the reading, Prof. Dodik formally handed over the Dramaga Message to Minister of Forestry Raja Juli Antoni, who was accompanied by the Vice Minister of Forestry. The National Foresters Gathering 2026 served as a national consolidation forum to strengthen professional solidarity and reaffirm the collective commitment of foresters as strategic partners of the government in supporting sustainable forestry policies and national development.
