Eddy Soeparno Sees Positive Economic and Environmental Impact from Prabowo’s UK and Davos Diplomacy

Enviro News Asia, London — Indonesia’s Vice Speaker of the People’s Consultative Assembly, Eddy Soeparno, expressed confidence that President Prabowo Subianto’s diplomatic engagements in the United Kingdom and at the World Economic Forum in Davos will generate tangible benefits for Indonesia’s economy, energy resilience, and environmental conservation agenda.

The meetings took place during President Prabowo’s official overseas visit, which included bilateral talks in the United Kingdom and participation in the World Economic Forum annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland. According to Eddy, the diplomatic efforts aim to strengthen international cooperation in sustainable development and green investment.

Eddy highlighted the strategic significance of President Prabowo’s meeting with King Charles III, noting the monarch’s long-standing global advocacy on climate action and environmental protection. He said the discussion opened opportunities for deeper collaboration between Indonesia and the United Kingdom in energy transition, biodiversity protection, and green financing.

He explained that Indonesia’s vast natural resources and rich biodiversity position the country as a key partner in global efforts to align economic growth with environmental sustainability. Such cooperation, he added, supports Indonesia’s commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2060 or earlier.

Regarding Prabowo’s participation in the World Economic Forum, Eddy stated that Indonesia used the platform to communicate its policy direction on sustainable economic growth, national energy security, and low-carbon development. He said the forum provides direct access to global investors and policymakers who play a critical role in shaping future economic partnerships.

Eddy, who also serves as a senior figure in National Mandate Party, emphasized that President Prabowo’s address at the forum would help build international confidence in Indonesia as a credible destination for green and sustainable investment.

He stressed that international diplomacy must be followed by concrete domestic policies, including stronger regulations, accelerated clean energy transition, and the protection of ecosystems and local communities. Eddy concluded that the outcomes of global engagements should translate into real benefits for the public, while reinforcing national energy sovereignty and long-term environmental sustainability. (*)
