Enviro News Asia, Jakarta — Indonesia’s Ministry of Forestry has issued a clarification regarding the presence of investigators from the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic of Indonesia at the office of the Directorate General of Forestry Planning on Wednesday (January 7, 2026).
The Ministry explained that the visit was conducted for the purpose of data verification related to changes in forest-area functions, particularly protected forests in several regions. These changes occurred in past periods and are not related to the current Merah Putih Cabinet administration. The activity forms part of law enforcement efforts that emphasize data accuracy and transparency.
The Ministry stressed that the process involved data matching rather than a search operation, and that all activities were carried out in an orderly, cooperative, and professional manner. The Directorate General of Forestry Planning remains fully committed to supporting law enforcement authorities by providing the required data and information in accordance with prevailing laws and regulations.
The Ministry of Forestry also expressed its appreciation for the Attorney General’s Office’s initiatives aimed at strengthening forest governance. Synergy between government institutions and law enforcement agencies is viewed as a crucial element in ensuring transparent, accountable, and sustainable forest management for the benefit of present and future generations.
